In 2021, due to the pandemic’s economic impact on restaurants we waived the participation fee and their donations. We focused our energy on the marketing campaign with a full calendar of content that would focus on the restaurants promotion first and the fundraiser second. New assets were designed to communicate the new event format, increase grassroots efforts and gain virility in the social media landscape. The #getyouryummy hashtag and sticker utilized gameify strategy’s and visually distinguished the campaign both digitally and in print.
The event specifically engaged participation of clients, volunteers, staff members, board members and restaurant owners a majority of which were BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+. While the HIV and AIDS epidemic has seen a decline in mortality and infection rates, disparities persist with BIPOC experiencing higher rates of infection and face barriers to prevention and care.
